Greenland is made up of ice including glaciers and icebergs. Greenland's name is very misleading. Although you may think Greenland is a fertile place, that is not the case, Greenland is actually covered in ice. Our recent pollution and global warming and are causing glaciers and icebergs to break apart. This is because the ice is becoming thinner and thinner. This makes ice weak and makes it melt.

As the ice melts it turns into water and creates strong rivers. These rivers are very strong because of the amount of ice melting a day. At the peak in early July, 50% of the ice sheet was experiencing surface melt. These strong rivers rip through the ice that is still remaining. This causes friction and breaks more of the ice. This makes ice melt even worse.
